Behind the Steam: Speaker Series

Behind the Steam: A Collection Exploration Speaker Series
Free for Members, $6 General Admission
Every third Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm

What will you find when you go “behind the steam” with us at the Marshall Steam Museum? Join us every month for the next year as we take a close look at a special item in our collection and then zoom out for a larger discussion with experts and enthusiasts. Our collection goes beyond Stanley steam cars, so tune in every month to see what interesting items we uncover!

PLEASE NOTE: We will be transitioning to in-person programming for September’s Behind the Steam. Recordings of past programs are available.

Upcoming Programs:

Erector Sets, Thursday, December 16 at 7  pm

  • Presenter: Dennis Cannon
  • Revel in the childhood wonder of early erector sets with local collector Dennis Cannon. Erector sets became the most popular construction toy in the country and were the first toy to launch a major advertising campaign. Cannon will bring items from his incredible collection, which includes one of the first Erector sets from 1913, the first original color advertisement for a toy (which just happens to be an Erector) and other fascinating objects.
  • Light refreshments will be available for purchase
